To be admitted to an MTech Programme, a candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum CPI 6.0 on a 10-point scale (or 60% marks) that is obtained through a study of at least 6 years duration (in any format, including 2+4, 3+3, 2+5, 2+3+2) after Class 10.
In addition, the candidates applying under the studentship category Regular have to qualify in one of the GATE Papers given against the concerned discipline/specialization as mentioned in the following table.

For admission to the PhD Programme in Chemical Engineering Department, a candidate must satisfy either:
Master's degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Sciences/Veterinary Sciences/Pharmacy in a relevant area with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of either 6.0 or 60% of marks.
Four-year Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Sciences or equivalent in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of either 7.0 or 70% of marks.
Relaxation for SC/ST/PwD Candidates: Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CPI for SC/ST/PwD applicants.
The OBC-NCL candidates must have OBC-NCL certificates issued on or after 01.04.2020.
